Join The Council
Let your voice be heard! Are you passionate about the health of our communities in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties? Are you committed to improving healthcare for everyone? If so, then we are looking for you!
Health Share’s Community Advisory Council is now accepting applications for new members at this time. Based on our current membership we are especially looking to fill these priority areas: OHP member, Clackamas resident, Native American, Youth (18-24), Asian Pacific Islander, Veteran, and LGBTQI. However, even if you don't fall within these categories you are still encouraged to apply.
We are glad that you are interested in joining our Community Advisory Council. The Council is a great way for people to share their thoughts, concerns and ideas on how to make health care better for people on the Oregon Health Plan.
The Council is made up of people who want to make a difference in the lives of people on the Oregon Health Plan. The Council includes Oregon Health Plan members, health care advocates, and county representatives. They give input and make recommendations on the strategic direction of the organization to Health Share’s Board of Directors.
The Council also helps Health Share meet the health needs of both Oregon Health Plan members and the community. It gives people the opportunity to take an active role in improving their own health and that of their family and community members.
If you are selected, you will be working with other Council members on:
- Giving input on ways to prevent poor health outcomes (preventative care practices)
- Overseeing a process that figures out what the community needs to be health and then developing a plan for Health Share to respond to those needs (Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan)
- Helping Health Share report on how they are addressing community health needs (Annual Community Health Progress Report)
Council members are expected to attend monthly meetings that happen on the first Friday of every month from 12pm – 4pm. The meetings take place in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties (we rotate so that we are in each county). Health Share will provide lunch and help with transportation for these meetings for Council members who are on the Oregon Health Plan.
From time to time Council members may be asked to attend additional meetings and help out with different workgroups. Sometimes Council members will get to attend events like conferences and summits on community health. Health Share will cover the costs of these.
If you still want to apply to be on the Community Advisory Council, please fill out the application by clicking here (en español) and return it to Michael Anderson-Nathe at email@example.com or by sending a printed copy to Health Share of Oregon, 2121 SW Broadway, Suite 200, Portland, OR 97201. If you have any questions feel free to call Michael Anderson-Nathe at (503) 416-4980 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for being interested in helping Health Share improve the health of the community. We need people who are willing to use their voice to make a difference.
