The support you need in a difficult time.

A list of community resources for members during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

At Health Share, we know health is about more than what happens in the doctor’s office – it’s about the many services and supports that help us thrive, from education and food to employment and housing. With businesses and schools closing to slow the spread of this dangerous virus, many Oregonians are experiencing hardship.

We want you to know that you are not alone. In addition to your Health Share benefits and our main Coronavirus webpage, many public agencies, community organizations, and private companies are coming together to help each other out. Here’s a list of some of those community resources to support you during this difficult time.

OHSU COVID-19 Hotline

Do you have questions about coronavirus symptoms and care? If so, check with your primary care provider. If you don’t have one, call the COVID-19 hotline at 833-647-8222 and they will help answer your questions. They are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Though the hotline was created by OHSU it is available to anyone, regardless of your coverage or provider.

Health Care for Immigrants and Refugees

If you or anyone in your family is an immigrant or refugee, you do not have to worry that getting tested, preventive care, or treatment for COVID-19 will affect your immigration status. If you experience COVID-19 symptoms like fever, cough, or difficulty breathing and are in need of medical care, please contact your doctor.

Citizen/Alien Waived Emergency Medical (CAWEM) Coverage

If you have CAWEM and need testing for COVID-19 you’re covered. If you need to stay in the hospital because of COVID-19 you’re covered for that too. 

During the national COVID-19 emergency, OHP covers the testing and treatment of COVID-19. This is true even if you don’t get care in an emergency room. OHP still covers you, even if you test negative for COVID-19.

You may need to travel to access healthcare or food needs. We recommend maintaining your distance from other people. If you must use public transportation, TriMet has information on how to keep you and other riders safe.

Food Access

Several public agencies and organizations are providing free food and meals.

Multnomah County is providing meals at schools during specific times.

Oregonians can use SNAP benefits to pay for groceries delivered from Amazon and Walmart — delivery fees and other non-food expenses aren’t covered.

Behavioral Health Resources

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI is an education, support, and advocacy organization composed of individuals and families with lived experience with behavioral health issues.

  • For the NAMI Oregon Helpline call 503-230-8009 or 800-343-6264 or email
    • Callers receive live assistance from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. NAMI has 20 weekly online support groups available. This includes groups for individuals living with mental illness; family members and friends with a loved one living with mental illness; and parents/caregivers raising school-age children with behavioral health issues.
